This pretty plate from the Savoie dates from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. The hand-painted decoration forms an abstract floral rosette at the center with four matching corner sprigs, executed in warm ochre with pooled green and small manganese-black spots.
Charming on a kitchen wall, it can anchor a grouping of French slipware and faïence on open shelves or a pot rack. On a console or farmhouse table, it works as a decorative catchall or as a dish for fruit, herbs, or candles, its mellow glaze harmonizing with linen, patinated copper, and natural woods. The softly aged surface brings an authentic country note to traditional, rustic, or collected interiors.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
