A rare and highly decorative late 19th-century piece, intricately crafted in the form of a flowering basket. Composed of thousands of finely arranged glass beads, this exceptional work reflects extraordinary patience and craftsmanship, with delicate blossoms, foliage, and an ornate basket structure brought to life through meticulous handwork. The composition is both sculptural and airy, with branching stems and floral clusters creating depth and movement. A refined palette of soft mauves, dusty pinks, and gentle greens is enlivened by brighter accents, lending vibrancy while preserving a sense of restraint and quiet melancholy.
Such creations are known as immortelles, beaded funerary wreaths popular in Europe during the Victorian era, conceived as everlasting floral tributes. Unlike fresh flowers, these intricate compositions symbolized remembrance and permanence, embodying the poetic sensibility of 19th-century mourning traditions.
The reverse reveals a carefully constructed framework that is both sturdy and lightweight, making the piece easy to hang and display.
Presented in very good condition, with only minor wear and a few missing beads consistent with age, this piece has been well preserved and retains its remarkable visual impact.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
