A superb and rare yellow and green glazed milk pot dating from the end of the nineteenth century or start of the twentieth century, Provence. Note the lovely inscription near the neck and the painted glaze decorations of green garlands over a custard-yellow color glaze. contrasting its exterior, the interior is glazed with a pretty ochre red color. There are two shapely handles on either side finished with escargot swirls. Molded faces of sheep or farm animals decorate the sides. A fabulous piece for collectors and admirers of antique French pottery.
