An elegant French "glass cooler" or glass cooler/refresher dining service accessory from the start of the twentieth century. This fine, oval earthenware bowl features a distinct scalloped edge, bright yellow glossy glaze, and decoratively curved ear handles on either side. Its main purpose was to keep glassware cool by filling the bowl with ice and resting the stemware glasses on the crenellation-patterned edges.
