A rare mid-20th-century vinegar jar from Cliousclat in southeastern France, this glazed stoneware vessel features a rounded barrel form with its small original lid intact. The body is encircled by finely rouletted bands, adding texture and rhythm, while the glaze shifts from deep chestnut to smoky gray with occasional iridescent highlights that catch the light. A small spout near the base, once closed with a now absent cork stopper, speaks to its original practical function. The jar remains in very good condition, showing gentle wear, minor kiln marks, and natural glaze variations consistent with age and use.
Set on a kitchen counter, scullery shelf, or dining console, it brings depth and grounded rustic refinement to a space. Grouped with other utilitarian ceramics, it lends a collected, artisanal presence. Its earthy palette pairs beautifully with stone, natural wood, and linen, bringing texture, warmth, and quiet authenticity to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
