This rare and beautiful Spanish preserving jar is from the island of Majorca, late-eighteenth or early-nineteenth century. Originally used for preserving olives or anchovies. Traditionally protected in handmade wicker and hay and stored in a cellar. Hand-crafted, blown glass. Faults and bubbles are part of the making process and reflect the light beautifully. Care must be taken when cleaning because the underside is sharp where the glass was cut during the blowing process.
