A charming petite multifunction powder compact dating to about 1930, crafted in brass with a tortoiseshell effect enamel lid framed by a fine linear border. The case opens with a refined shell shaped button to reveal two compartments for makeup, a cigarette sleeve, and a hinged mirror. The mechanism works very well. The finish shows a timeworn patina consistent with age, including a small chip to the enamel at an edge and light spotting to the mirror, overall very good condition. Such combination compacts epitomized the elegance of the interwar years and were favored across Europe as refined accessories for evenings out.
Perfect on a dressing table or within a curated vanity vignette, it brings a warm glow and a note of Old World glamour. Displayed closed, it highlights its rich surface; opened, it reveals a cleverly conceived interior. Beyond display, its compact size allows it to be slipped into a handbag, making it ideal for carrying pills, small jewelery and business cards.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
