Remarkable French Riveted Wrought Iron Centrepiece Plant Stand c. 1900 - 58¾" x 32¼" x 32¼"

A remarkable and generously scaled French free-standing oval jardinière de milieu in riveted wrought iron, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Rarely encountered in this size, it is a particularly impressive example of French ornamental ironwork. Reminiscent of the graceful silhouette of a child's bed, the flared frame is formed from elegant scrolling volutes that rise into slender stems adorned with hand-applied blossoms and leaves, delicately highlighted in a warm gilt finish. The riveted construction reflects the traditional craftsmanship of the period. Raised on four tightly scrolled feet, it retains its original grey zinc liner. It is presented in very good condition, with a beautifully timeworn patina, light wear to the paint and gilding, minor oxidation, and a few small dings to the zinc, all consistent with age and use. 

Conceived as a centrepiece for a conservatory, winter garden, or grand salon, this exceptional jardinière de milieu was designed to be admired from every angle. Whether adorned with clipped topiary, fragrant citrus, or an abundance of seasonal flowers, it creates a memorable focal point.
