This bohemian table lamp pairs a hand-painted Japanese Imari export porcelain vase with a cast bronze base in the Rococo style, likely mounted in France in the late 19th century. The ovoid porcelain body is richly decorated in iron red and deep cobalt blue, accented with touches of gilt, with floral reserves and stylized blossoms characteristic of Imari ware produced for the Western market. It rests on an ornate bronze foot with scrolling acanthus detailing, lending the piece a sense of classical elegance and visual weight. A mid-20th-century flared fabric shade in a soft rose hue, finished with braided trim and long fringe, completes the composition and underscores its decorative, bohemian spirit. Gentle wear to the shade, along with a pleasing, mellow patina to the bronze, adds a touch of nostalgic period charm.
Style it on a chest of drawers, end table, or writing desk to introduce warmth and pattern to a living room, library, or bedroom. The rose-colored shade casts a soft, flattering glow, while the fringed silhouette brings a relaxed, bohemian note that complements traditional, eclectic, or maximalist schemes. Pair it with a small stack of books or a simple ceramic dish to allow the porcelain decoration to remain the focal point.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
Must be rewired and installed in accordance with local electrical requirements.
