Large Rustic Iron Alpine Cowbell with Faux-Leather Strap - 19"

This rustic cowbell with strap is forged from iron and finished with a deep, mottled brown patina developed over time. It is fitted with a broad black faux-leather strap with stitched edges and a large iron buckle showing surface rust and age.

Likely dating to the mid- to late 20th century and originating from the mountain regions of France or Switzerland, the bell reflects a long pastoral tradition in which such forms were used to locate grazing cattle across high alpine pastures. While this example appears to have seen little or no active farm use and may have served a decorative role, it still produces a clear, resonant tone that evokes alpine trails and rural landscapes.
