This rustic terracotta water jug, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, has a rounded body that rises to a short neck with an overarching handle and a small side loop handle, and a well-defined spout. The upper half is glazed in emerald green with a vivid streak of yellow, while the lower section remains unglazed to reveal the warm clay. A stamped number appears on the handle, likely a model designation. Wear from use, scattered glaze losses, and small chips add to its character.
Originally made as a practical vessel for carrying and cooling water, the form is now valued for its sculptural silhouette and bold color. The contrast between glossy glaze and raw clay gives the piece strong decorative presence, while the sweep of green and yellow adds energy and visual interest. This jug makes a striking accent in a kitchen, breakfast room, or garden room, where its earthy texture and saturated glaze bring warmth and authenticity. It can be displayed alone as sculpture or grouped with other pottery for a layered look.
