A sculptural Art Nouveau mistletoe chandelier in cast bronze, circa 1900, this striking and unusually large model features four lights woven into an abundant canopy of hand-worked leaves and delicate clusters of milky opaline glass berries. The composition cascades organically from a sinuous central stem, creating a suspended thicket of foliage that feels at once decorative and alive. The bronze surface displays a beautifully mottled, aged patina with soft green and brown highlights, enhancing the naturalistic modeling. A few leaves show gentle bends consistent with age, and one small branch appears to be missing; however, this does not detract from the chandelier’s overall beauty or balance, particularly as the piece is intended to be admired from below, where its dense, enveloping form and play of light take full effect.
Rooted in the turn-of-the-century French fascination with botanical symbolism and organic design, this chandelier embodies the poetic spirit of Art Nouveau, translating mistletoe, an emblem of vitality and renewal, into sculptural light. When illuminated, it casts a warm, atmospheric glow through the berries and foliage, giving it a quietly magical presence. Ideal as a statement piece in a dining room, winter garden, or entry hall, it brings a sense of enchantment and craftsmanship to both historic interiors and contemporary spaces seeking an expressive, nature-inspired focal point.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
