A tall Art Nouveau majolica vase from around 1900, this striking piece embodies the movement’s love of organic form and sinuous line. Deep relief blossoms and vine leaves climb the slender body in a naturalistic rhythm, their stems flowing upward and curling into a looped crest. The twin vertical handles trace elegant whiplash curves, a hallmark of Art Nouveau design, reinforcing the sense of fluid, botanical movement. The glossy glaze shades from moss and olive at the base to lagoon and pale aqua at the neck, while petals in soft rose and cream catch the light against the cool green ground. The base swells in a gentle, root-like sweep and rests on small feet, completing the vase’s sculptural silhouette. The underside is signed "R" and bears a model number but no factory mark, and it was almost certainly conceived as part of a mantel garniture.
There are minor losses and small glaze chips consistent with age, which do not detract from the overall visual impact.
This vase brings a bold yet graceful, garden-inspired presence to any interior, whether displayed as sculpture or filled with tall branches. Its rich colors paired with its flowing silhouette, create a striking statement piece that brings warmth and organic movement to both antique and contemporary interiors.
