Sculptural Italian Glass Grape Cluster Table Lamp c.1920s - 21¼"

A striking Italian table lamp, circa 1920s, modeled as an exuberant grapevine with five lights, each shaded by dense clusters of hand-strung Murano glass beads in cobalt, emerald, olive, amber, and clear tones. Twisted dark metal stems rise from a cast gilt-bronze foliate base, while gilded caps and pressed leaves accent the pendant clusters and central standard adorned with additional glass berries. The lamp remains in good, timeworn condition, with age patina and minor oxidation to the metal, light rubbing and tiny nicks to some beads. The electric cord and wiring system need replacement.

Inspired by Venetian Liberty design moving into early Art Deco, this sculptural lamp showcases the virtuosity of Venetian glassmakers who shaped jewel-toned perle di vetro and wired them into lush grape forms. The combination of richly colored glass and gilt metal reflects the high craftsmanship and results in a decorative object of exceptional charm and artistry.
