A quiet seascape with still waters at the entry of a port. It feels like sunrise, before the boats start to come and go. Oil on canvas, early twentieth century signed R. Duvernon.
Raoul Devernon was at the end of the 19th century in Marseille. He was a student at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. His wife, Marthe Chevalier was a pianist.
They lived in Remiremont in the Vosges region, Raoul painted and drew landscapes, portraits and nudes while his wife taught piano.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
