Anna Bass (1876 – 1961) was a French sculptor and engraver born in Strasbourg and active in Paris between the early 20th century and the postwar years. She exhibited at major Paris salons including the Société nationale des beaux-arts, the Salon des Tuileries, and the Salon d’Automne, and her sculptures were acquired by institutions such as the Luxembourg Gallery, the Musée national d’art moderne, the Petit Palais, and museums in Strasbourg and Metz. Known primarily for her work in sculpture and medallic art, Bass brought a sculptor’s keen understanding of form and volume to her work on paper, where structural presence and tactile weight are often evident.
