From Patricia and Walter's Paris apartment, this complete set of twelve Laguiole Bougna steak knives represents one of France's most enduring cutlery traditions — bought directly from the factory in Laguiole, the Aveyron village that has given its name to a knife the world has spent decades trying to imitate. The knives are presented in two sets of six, each housed in its original fitted oak case stamped with the Forge de Laguiole mark. The handles are natural horn — pale, warm and subtly varied in tone, with the characteristic brass bolsters and rivets that identify a genuine Laguiole. Each slender blade is engraved "Laguiole Bougna," and the knives are beautifully balanced, pleasantly weighty in the hand. Patricia explains, "I love that they're genuine and real. Sadly, there are copies all over the world. I never buy them off the street because it hurts the knife makers." They would be equally at home laid across a linen-set table in Paris or passed around a long summer lunch in Provence — the kind of knives that make a simple grilled entrecôte feel like a considered occasion.
