"I like to use things that will live longer than I will," Patricia explains — and these three copper saucepans from her Paris apartment are exactly that kind of object. She loves the way food responds to a sturdy copper pan, and values it for its aesthetics as much as its performance: a respect, she says, for quality in both equipment and ingredients. This set of three graduated saucepans came from Patricia and Walter's Paris apartment, where they served as everyday workhorses. Each is formed from substantial copper with a tin-lined interior, the riveted iron handles long and gently curved, looped at the end for hanging. The exteriors carry the mottled, burnished patina of decades of use — warm copper tones deepened and marked by heat and time. The largest is a generous size for sauces and grains; the smallest, compact and precise. In a contemporary kitchen, these pans are as functional as they are beautiful. Hang them from a rack or rest them on a shelf and they bring an immediate sense of culinary seriousness. Use them on the stove and they will reward you with even, responsive heat — the kind of cooking experience that makes the difference between a good result and a great one.
