Set of 36 bone-handle knives - 19th century French

SKU: 16643

US$1,841
A lovely collection of 36 monogrammed dinner, cheese, and dessert/fruit knives with bone handles from the 1800s. The blades are stainless steel. The ends of the knives display a pretty two-letter monogram with varying levels of wear.
The lovely sculpted collars that join the blade to the handle are called "viroles". Viroles provide a functional purpose as a stabilizing piece providing shock absorbance during knife use as well as adding a pretty decorative detail.
A splendid collection to add a touch of French history to your table. These would make an original gift for a special occasion.
