Set of 6 antique French dining chairs w/ carved backs & upholstered cushions

A set of six French dining chairs from the eighteenth century with exquisitely carved backs. Under the upholstered cushions are colorful green and gold woven rush seats. Dating from the Directoire period, they feature elaborately sculpted backs.

The chairs are decorated with an assortment of motifs, including musical instruments, birds, and forest creatures. The legs are double-braced, while the cushions are covered with yellow and red floral fabric from the same period and finished with red piping and tie-backs.
