A petite service of six lidded pots à crème in white glazed porcelain, each with an ear-shaped handle and a small berry knop finial, presented on a matching oval pedestal tray with six recessed wells and a molded, spreading foot. The porcelain is bright and even, the potting refined, and the ensemble reads as a coherent set. Likely Paris region, mid 19th century. Such pots à crème formed part of elegant French service à dessert, used for set custards and creams at the table.
Parisian ateliers produced abundant porcelaine de Paris in the early to mid 1800s, prized for its pure white body and crisp modeling, often left undecorated to showcase the clay and glaze. The molded berry knops and clean silhouettes align with restrained Neoclassical taste that persisted in Paris after the Empire period, while the raised piédouche stand reflects the French preference for elevated presentation and practical service. This ensemble brings quiet ceremony to the table or sideboard.
Use it for custards, panna cotta, or chilled mousses, or repurpose the pots for sauces, fleur de sel, or condiments during a cheese course. On a kitchen shelf or dining console, the white-on-white forms lend a refined note to French country, Gustavian, or tailored traditional interiors, and the pedestal tray makes an elegant centerpiece layered with linen and silver.
