A charming set of eleven Moustiers earthenware dessert plates dating to the mid-20th century, each hand painted with a whimsical bird surrounded by delicate floral sprays and scrolling foliage. The decoration is rendered in soft shades of cornflower blue, green, ochre, and aubergine on a creamy white ground, while the gently scalloped rims are finished with a brushed green border.
Produced in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, the designs draw directly from celebrated 18th-century models that made the town's ceramics famous. Condition is very good, with only a few tiny, unobtrusive rim chips to some plates. The undersides bear hand-painted decorators' marks and visible tripod stilt marks from the firing process, authentic traces of their handcrafted production.
Ideal for serving desserts, salads, or light meals, these plates also display beautifully on open shelving or as a coordinated wall arrangement. Their fresh palette and graceful decoration bring an unmistakable Provençal character to the table, lending colour, charm, and a sense of tradition to everyday dining.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
