A set of four light and elegant side chairs dating from the late 19th century, crafted in fruitwood with a rich honey-brown patina. The delicately shaped open backs are finely detailed with incised scrolling decoration and accented by small bone-inlaid rosettes, lending the chairs a refined, jewel-like quality. Their graceful silhouettes are complemented by later upholstery in an attractive woven fabric featuring pastoral motifs that harmonises beautifully with the warmth of the wood.
Well preserved, with minor wear and variations consistent with age and handcrafted construction. One frame is slightly loose and exhibits a minor wobble consistent with age and use. All four seats remain firm, though the chairs are best suited to occasional rather than everyday use.
Beautiful used together around a small dining, centre, or games table, they can also be divided into two pairs for use throughout the home. Place a pair flanking a console in an entry hall, use another in a bedroom beside a dressing table, or incorporate them as occasional seating in a sitting room. Their delicate proportions, warm patina, and understated decorative details make them easy to place and enjoyable to live with.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
