A set of six small fixed-blade knives from Patricia's culinary collection at Chanteduc, her farmhouse and cooking school in Vaison-la-Romaine — the kind of object that says everything about how seriously the French approach even the most casual pleasures of the table.
Each knife has a pointed steel blade, a warm brass bolster and end cap, and a handle of richly grained dark wood secured with brass rivets. The wood varies subtly from piece to piece — some with a tighter grain, others more open and rustic — giving the set a handmade coherence rather than factory uniformity. The brass has deepened to a burnished gold, and the blades carry the honest patina of decades of use. They are presented on a simple pale wood tray that keeps them neatly fanned and ready.
Perfect for a Chanteduc picnic or a spread of snacks in the garden — slicing saucisson, cheese, fruit, or a crusty baguette with the unpretentious ease that defines Provençal outdoor eating. Today, they would be just as well placed laid out on a wooden board at a summer table, or arranged as a small sculptural grouping in a kitchen or dining room that values the beauty of well-made, well-used things.
Light wear.
