This harmonious set of three Louis XVI–style 19th-century open armchairs features crisp neoclassical lines in carved beech, with molded frames, square backs, and generously rounded seats. Each chair is slightly different in stance and carving, yet all share tapered fluted legs capped by rosette blocks and gently scrolled arms with padded armrests. Recently reupholstered in a quality jacquard fabric, the upholstery shows a stylized botanical pattern in sunny yellow on a soft dove gray ground, finished with a neat braid trim; seats are firm and the frames feel stable.
The wood shows an appealing natural patina with small nicks and light surface wear. These armchairs bring elegance to a living room or library, whether arranged as a conversational cluster of three around a low table, or separated to flank a console in an entryway or enliven a bedroom corner. The lively yellow and gray fabric brightens traditional settings while offering a refined counterpoint to contemporary interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
