This set of three mid-century nesting tables by British maker Nathan Furniture, dating from the 1960s, is crafted in teak with a clean modernist design featuring softly rounded rectangular tops and elegant arched trestle-style legs. The warm teak has developed a mellow tone that emphasizes the simplicity of the form, while the restrained construction keeps the set light and easy to move. A horizontal rail at the back helps the smaller tables slide neatly beneath the larger one, keeping the set compact and orderly when stacked.
Nathan was founded in East London in 1916 and became especially associated in the postwar period with well-made British furniture influenced by Scandinavian modernism, resulting in pieces that feel both functional and warm. Versatile and easy to use, the tables work beautifully stacked beside a sofa, then can be pulled out individually for drinks, books or entertaining. Their mellow teak tone and airy silhouette make them easy to combine with both contemporary and more traditional interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
