A set of twelve Belle Epoque melon forks circa 1900, petite and elegant, in silver plate. Each has three broad tines and a tapering handle with a beaded collar, the handles decorated with delicate floral sprays. The surface shows a soft, low-luster glow with darker toning in the recesses. In very good condition, with light scratches, a few small dings, and slight waviness to some tine tips from use.
These antique melon forks are charming examples of specialized tableware from a time when dining was far more formal. Before casual dining became the norm, different foods had dedicated utensils, and melon forks were designed specifically for enjoying soft, slippery fruits like cantaloupe or honeydew. Their short, three-pronged shape allows for better grip and gentle cutting, since a standard fork doesn’t handle melon neatly.
Perfect for summer tables, they lend a gently nostalgic yet relaxed charm to the serving of ripe melon, figs, or pâtisserie. They pair beautifully with white porcelain, cut crystal, and linen. Display them gathered in a stoneware jar on a buffet, or lay them across a cheese or charcuterie board for an easy, polished touch in the dining room or garden.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
