The back is secured with old iron fixings. The walnut has beautifully aged to a deep umber tone with a softly polished sheen, enriched by centuries of handling. Subtle undulations from hand tools remain visible across the surface, giving it texture and warmth. Age cracks, softened edges, and faint scratches all speak to its long and useful life and add presence and character. There is an old break and restoration along one edge of the backrest. While the bench remains sturdy and functional, this repaired area remains slightly fragile and should be treated with care.
