A small Italian painted commode, 18th century, with a subtly bowed front fitted with three long drawers, all raised on simple bun feet. The surface, in green lacquer with ochre accents, has developed a richly textured and beautifully patinated finish, with visible layering and gentle wear that enhance its depth and character. The overhanging top is centered with a painted monogram “MB.” Gilt bronze mounts include keyhole escutcheons and drop handles, possibly later replacements but still antique; the lock to the top drawer is missing, and no key is present. The interior is well kept, and the drawers run smoothly. 

Placed between twin beds, this commode creates a warm and balanced focal point, serving as both a shared bedside table and a unifying design element. It also works beautifully beneath a window, in an entryway as a compact storage piece, or in a dressing area where its scale is especially practical. The softly worn finish pairs naturally with linen, plaster, and natural fibers, lending itself effortlessly to country-style interiors while bringing a relaxed, timeless character to any setting.
