This small mid-20th-century Val Saint Lambert crystal vase possesses a luminous, sculptural presence. Its clear, substantial body is worked in deep, undulating relief, the flowing ribs and organic contours catching and refracting light like water in motion. The gently flared rim opens above a thick, weighty base, giving the piece both visual movement and reassuring stability. The crystal remains bright and clear, with excellent transparency. Light scratches to the underside of the base from shelf wear and a faint, non-obtrusive blue surface stain at the bottom.
Founded in 1826 in Belgium, Val Saint Lambert became one of Europe’s most prestigious crystal manufactories, renowned for its technical mastery and artistic innovation. Initially celebrated for its richly cut and colored crystal in the 19th century, the firm evolved in the 20th century to embrace bold modernist and organic forms, collaborating with leading designers while maintaining exceptional hand-finishing standards. Val Saint Lambert remains highly sought after today for the brilliance and weight of its crystal, the refinement of its craftsmanship, and its ability to unite sculptural presence with luminous clarity.
Equally at home as a sculptural object or a vessel for a small bouquet, it brings quiet radiance to a console, mantel, or dining table. It pairs effortlessly with silver, stone, or warm woods, lending a cool, serene note to contemporary rooms and a crisp counterpoint to more traditional settings.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
