This petite hand-hammered copper pan from the early 20th century has a shallow circular form with splayed sides, a rolled rim, and a riveted iron ring for hanging. The interior retains its traditional tin lining, while the exterior shows warm reddish copper with attractive hammer marks, contrasting against the silvery tin and darkened iron. Once used as a small gratin or sauté pan, it reflects the prized qualities of tin-lined copper - excellent heat conductivity, durability, and practicality in both household and professional kitchens. It remains in good, timeworn condition with light scratches, small dings, oxidation to the ring, and spotting to the tin.
On display it brings authentic warmth to a kitchen or butler’s pantry, hung from a pot rack or a rail above the range where the hammered surface can be appreciated. Group it with other copper for a layered wall arrangement, or rest it on open shelving alongside stoneware and wood boards to soften a contemporary space. Perfect as a decorative catchall on a console or for serving small treats with character.
