This adorable little 'cocotte' or lidded casserole pot for one dates from the late-nineteenth century. It has multiple layers of glaze, adding to its rustic charm. Jaspé pottery from the Savoie region in the French Alps is known for its marbled appearance, achieved by applying contrasting slip (a liquid mixture of clay and water) to the pottery's surface. This technique flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries, using locally sourced, high-quality clay.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
