This small Louis XIV Provençal mirror features an ornate hand-carved wooden frame with its original warm, timeworn patina. The crest is decorated with an openwork cartouche of stylized foliage framing a lute and a flute, symbols of music and refinement, flanked by graceful scrolls and leaf details. The frame itself is richly carved with a repeating foliate pattern, enhanced by traces of old gilt and muted red tones that give it depth and character. The mirror plate, likely original, shows the charming signs of age such as light foxing and surface marks, adding to its authenticity.
A fine example of late 17th- to early 18th-century Provençal craftsmanship, it combines decorative elegance with the intimate scale typical of regional pieces from this period. Its size makes it especially versatile, perfect for adding historic charm to a hallway, dressing area, or washroom. It can also be incorporated into a gallery wall, where its intricate carving, musical motif, and warm patina will bring richness, texture, and a sense of heritage to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
