This 17th-century Spanish armchair is crafted from walnut and features its original leather seat and backrest, secured by a series of brass nails. The rich, dark leather exhibits signs of age and wear, adding character and authenticity to the piece. The chair’s wide backrest is rectangular, topped with carved finials and framed by simple arms resting on baluster supports.
The front legs are connected by a carved stretcher, which features an intricate openwork geometric design, typical of Spanish furniture from the period. This design element not only adds stability but also a sense of craftsmanship and elegance to the otherwise robust structure.
The armchair exudes a stately presence, with both the wood and leather showcasing a beautifully aged patina, making it a lovely choice for an occasional chair.
The leather shows marks and minor damage consistent with age and use, and the feet, worn by age, have been recently reinforced with metal.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
