Presented on a wooden pole and ready to hang, the generous T-shaped garment unfolds across the wall like a tapestry. Imperial dragons chase the flaming pearl amid swirling cloud scrolls, above a border of lishui waves and striped ground. Apricot silk sleeve facings reveal delicate floral accents. The silk retains a soft sheen and the embroidery shows beautiful relief and definition, highlighting the remarkable skill of the artisans. Condition is timeworn, with age-softened silk, small thread losses, minor fraying at edges, and gentle discoloration to the inner facings, all consistent with careful use and display.

Inspired by the Qing dynasty dragon robes worn by the imperial court, such theatrical garments allowed audiences to recognize rank and authority instantly on stage.
