This lively mid-20th-century still life, painted in gouache on board, depicts a wicker basket overflowing with sea urchins, several opened to reveal their coral-colored interiors, alongside a green glazed pitcher. The artist uses a bold, spontaneous hand, with graphic outlines and broad areas of ochre, olive green, cream and deep blue-black.
