This five-piece enameled metal wash set, marked BB Frères, an Austrian manufacturer producing for the French market, dates to the 1920s–1930s. The matching set comprises a tall water ewer, basin, lidded brush box, soap dish, and small shaving bowl. Decorated throughout in a striking Art Deco palette of black and white vertical stripes framed by deep crimson borders with bright green interior rims, it exemplifies the bold geometric style of the period. The enamel retains a bright gloss with only minor chips and edge wear consistent with age, and the soap dish is complete with its original removable drainer.
Produced during the interwar years for bedroom washstands before indoor plumbing became commonplace, complete wash sets like this are increasingly appreciated as decorative ensembles. Whether displayed on a bathroom vanity, dressing table, or console, the bold striped pattern creates a striking focal point while adding authentic Art Deco character. The ewer and basin create an eye-catching vignette, while the brush box, soap dish, and shaving bowl can be repurposed to hold jewelry, guest soaps, cotton balls, makeup brushes, or other small essentials.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
