Tall pitcher w/ yellow & brown glaze & perpendicular beak 7"

SKU: 18632

US$342
This superb, tapered pitcher dates from the nineteenth century and was likely made in Vallauris. The handle and pouring beak are perpendicular to each other as it was used for heating coffee and water on the stove. It is glazed inside and out with yellow ocher and brown splashes, but not underneath as it was to be used over heat - one can see the charred base from years of cooking.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 7" high x 5" diameter at base 6¾" incl. handle
Approx. overall 18cm high x 13cm diameter at base 17cm incl. handle
