Three Handmade Porcelain Pendant Light Fixtures with Botanical Impressions 13" x 8"

Three porcelain pendant shades that have hung above the kitchen at Chanteduc for years — familiar to every student who has cooked beneath them. Made by Agnès and Alex of Atelier-A Porcelaine in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, each shade is thrown and finished by hand in fine white porcelain. The same potters have made several pieces for Patricia over the years, including the ribbed set of serving bowls.

The porcelain walls are thin enough to become translucent, casting a soft, amber-toned warmth that fills the kitchen like candlelight. Look closely and the surface is alive with botanical impressions — leaves, tendrils and organic forms pressed directly into the clay before firing. Patricia explains how the potter forages in the woods and presses the gathered plants and foliage into the porcelain, leaving their ghostly outlines behind. The result is decoration that feels entirely of the natural world, and entirely at home in a Provençal farmhouse kitchen.

Offered as a set of three shades only — the hanging rail is not included — they are versatile enough to be suspended individually or grouped above a kitchen island, dining table or studio workspace. Rewired to suit, they would bring the same generous, textured light to any interior that values the handmade: a direct connection to the potters of the Gard, and to the kitchen where so many of Patricia's recipes first came to life.
