Three Pieces of Handmade Porcelain by Atelier-A France

Patricia owns several ceramics made by Agnès and Alex, the husband-and-wife team behind Atelier-A Porcelaine, ranging from pots and serveware to light fittings and vases.

This grouping — two open bowls and a small vase — is hand-thrown in fine white porcelain, unglazed on the exterior and finished with a smooth, creamy interior glaze. Each piece is decorated with a band of raised organic relief that wraps around the body.

Atelier-A is based in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, a small village in the Gard near Uzès with a ceramic tradition stretching back to the Middle Ages, when abundant local clay deposits and wood-fired kilns supplied the region with everyday earthenware. By the 17th century, the village counted dozens of working potters. Though the industry declined through the 20th century, a revival began in the 1980s, and today the village is home to a thriving community of contemporary ceramicists, anchored by the Maison de la Poterie and an annual international ceramics festival. Agnès and Alex are among its most respected artists.

At Chanteduc, these pieces sit naturally on a kitchen shelf or a laid table — the larger bowl generous enough for fruit or olives, the smaller for salt or a handful of figs, the vase holding a single stem from the garden.
