Very Large Italian Art Deco Rosewood Frame c.1930 - 42½" x 35¾"

A very large Italian rosewood frame, dating to around 1930, with a broad, deeply molded profile that emphasizes the rich movement and tonal variation of the timber. The warm reddish-brown rosewood is arranged in stepped bands, creating a strong architectural effect, while the sight is defined by a subtly contrasting ebonized inner border decorated with a fine repeating guilloché motif. The dark inner molding sharpens the composition and draws the eye inward, while the polished rosewood retains subtle variations in tone and surface that give the frame depth and character.  The frame appears to be in very good antique condition, with light surface wear, occasional small marks, and subtle variations in the polish consistent with age.

Its substantial scale gives the frame a strong architectural presence, while the restrained design feels sophisticated and modern. The broad rosewood moldings let the rich grain and tonal variation of the wood speak for themselves, while the ebonized guilloché inner border adds a crisp graphic accent.
