Very Large Olive Wood Slab Live Edge Serving Board 45" x 26¾"

This magnificent planed slab of olive wood has lived at Chanteduc, Patricia and Walter's farmhouse and cooking school near Vaison-la-Romaine, for years — found by Walter and kept, quite simply, because it was too beautiful to do anything but admire. Walter explains that a couple of traders at the weekly Vaison-la-Romaine market bring large pieces of olive wood up from Morocco, since olive trees in Provence rarely grow large enough to yield a slab of this scale. "I found it so pretty that I left it alone," he recalls — and so it remained, pressed into service as an oversized platter during Patricia's cooking classes at Chanteduc. The piece is exceptional. A single, generously proportioned slab with a fully natural live edge, its irregular silhouette follows the original contours of the tree. It would make a superb coffee table with the addition of simple legs, or could continue its life as a generous serving board along a long table.
