Very large patinated copper alloy kardinière of monumental flowerpot form, defined by a broad rolled rim above gently tapering sides. Its surface carries a richly layered verdigris, deepened by darker oxidized bloom and enlivened with scattered rust speckles that lend irregularity and charm. Decades of service have left their imprint in dents and small perforations, details that add to its rustic appeal. The base is pierced, providing convenient drainage.
Originally part of an industrial container, the piece was later salvaged and reimagined as a bold cache pot. The sturdy rim and solid construction reflect its utilitarian beginnings, while long exposure to work, time, and the elements has transformed it into an object of compelling visual depth.
Placed on a terrace, in a courtyard, or within a conservatory, it makes a commanding planter for citrus, olive, or a clipped bay tree, with the pierced base ensuring good drainage. Indoors, it may serve as a dramatic cache pot for a large specimen plant, or as a rustic container for firewood or umbrellas. With its monumental scale, irregular surface, and richly weathered patina, it brings character, authenticity, and sculptural weight to both traditional and contemporary settings.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
