This limited edition print numbered 1 of 30, titled "Field Work", was created by Pierre Ambrogiani and printed on Arches wove paper. Signed in the lower right corner, it is presented framed and under glass. The composition unfolds in broad, assured planes of color, depicting figures laboring in cultivated fields beneath gently rolling hills. Warm yellows, terracotta tones, and fresh greens are set against deeper blues, creating a vibrant yet balanced palette that reflects Ambrogiani’s enduring attachment to the landscapes of southern France.
Born in Corsica in 1907 and active throughout the mid twentieth century until his death in 1985, Ambrogiani developed a distinctive style marked by bold color, simplified forms, and an expressive, rhythmic handling of line. He is regarded among the leading masters of modern Provence, and his work is distinguished by canvases of vivid intensity inspired by Fauvism. This print brings warmth and vitality through its luminous tones and gently stylized depiction of rural life.
Hung in a kitchen, study, or living room, it introduces brightness and energy, while its framed presentation gives it a composed and finished presence. Both graphic and pastoral, it offers a thoughtful balance of vibrancy and serenity, lending character and a touch of Mediterranean light to its surroundings.
