This vintage handmade ceramic hanging planter has a lovely basin-shaped form, inspired by the suspended jardinières fashionable during the Belle Époque (circa 1900). Its wide, flared rim and gently irregular contours clearly reveal the hand of the potter, while a small rounded finial completes the base. The particularly beautiful glossy glaze combines deep olive brown, bronze and subtle iridescent tones, scattered with turquoise-blue speckles and drips that give the surface a lively, almost painterly appearance. Three aged metal chains are attached around the rim for hanging. The planter has light wear consistent with age and no drainage hole. A protective liner or removable inner pot is recommended.
The combination of its unusual shape, rich colors and artisanal finish gives this hanging planter plenty of decorative appeal. It would look lovely suspended on a covered terrace, in a garden room or near a sunny window, planted with trailing ivy, ferns or flowering plants that could spill over its broad rim for a bohemian effet.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
