A vintage mouth‑blown glass carafe from Patricia Wells’s personal collection of glassware. displayed in the salon at Chanteduc. The clear glass carries gentle ripples and a few tiny bubbles that speak to the hand and the furnace. A softly flared collar tops a narrow neck that rests comfortably in the hand; the everted rim gives a clean, steady pour. Patricia notes, “These are perfect for serving water at the dining table,” a simple ritual at the heart of her teaching and entertaining. Kept on view for years in the living room at Chanteduc, it comes to the table as a carafe d’eau (water carafe), chilled with slices of citron (lemon) or a sprig from the garden.
