Vintage French Faux Bois Concrete Garden Salon - 6 piece

This French faux bois concrete garden suite dates to the 1960s or 1970s and comprises an oval table, four armchairs, and a matching bench. All elements are extremely heavy and intended for permanent outdoor placement.

The oval tabletop is cast with a bark-textured edge, it rests on a sculptural pedestal formed as branching tree trunks with knot detailing. The armchairs and bench are designed with stump-form bases, scooped seats, and gently curved backs, all hand-finished to imitate timber. The surface is coloured in layered tones of honey, sand, and umber, creating a convincing weathered-wood effect.

The set belongs to the French faux bois tradition, developed by rocailleurs who specialised in garden structures made to resemble natural materials. With the adoption of cement in the late nineteenth century, faux bois expanded beyond rockwork into furniture and architectural elements. By the mid-twentieth century, these durable concrete forms were widely used in gardens and terraces.

Structurally solid and visually cohesive, this suite works equally well on a terrace or in a landscaped garden. Its scale, weight, and construction make it suitable for long-term outdoor use, with no need for anchoring or protection from the elements.
