A vintage clear-glass carafe from Patricia's glassware collection, displayed in the living room at Chanteduc, Patricia Wells’ farmhouse in Provence, this slender piece belongs to her personal collection of verre clair (clear glass). The form is thoughtfully made for service: a gently tapered neck, rolled rim with a modest lip, and a cylindrical body that sits steady on the table. The glass is bright and transparent with light, honest wear from years of careful handwashing, the kind of patina that speaks to a life well used.
“Perfect for serving water at the dining table,” Patricia explains, and the easy-to-grip silhouette confirms the point. Fill it with chilled water and mint from the potager, decant a carafe of vin ordinaire, or slip in a few market stems. It is equally at home beside a guest bed, grouped on open shelving with other clear pieces, or set at a sunlit déjeuner (lunch) where its clarity catches the light.
Light wear.
