Vintage French Green-Glazed Ceramic Pendant Light - 22" x 6¼"

This charming vintage French ceramic pendant lantern, dating from the mid-20th century, is designed like a small garden pavilion and finished in a deep glossy green glaze. The square body is open on all four sides and underneath, each face articulated by molded ceramic framing and crossed diagonal bars. Above, the gently pitched roof is accented with raised curled motifs resembling stylized roof windows, adding a playful note. A molded ceramic collar crowns the lantern, while the matching green-glazed ceramic canopy above is a particularly appealing feature. The piece hangs from a simple brass chain and contains a single light. 

The lantern is unsigned but has the handmade character and style associated with mid-20th century Vallauris ceramic production. The glaze is in very good overall condition, but a small restoration is visible at the roof finial.

Its compact scale and glossy green glaze give the lantern a playful, slightly unexpected character. The color is rich yet understated, catching the eye without dominating the room. It would make a particularly charming accent in a small entrance hall, powder room or breakfast nook, bringing a fresh note of color and personality.
