A fixture at Chanteduc for decades, this vintage French iron garden table was found by Patricia at a local brocante. Set for lunch in the courtyard, pulled onto the terrace for an evening aperitif, brought inside when the mistral had other ideas: this table has done it all, moving easily between the life of the house and the rhythms of the Provençal seasons.
The ironwork is beautifully considered. Four elegantly curved legs sweep outward from a central ring stretcher, each foot finishing in a neat scroll that gives the whole piece a light, confident stance. A small ball finial marks the crossing of the base stretcher — a detail that lifts the design well above the purely functional. The round top is a generous size, comfortably seating four, and the iron throughout has developed a warm, russet patina that speaks to years of honest outdoor use.
A table that has spent this long at Chanteduc carries a particular kind of usefulness with it. Today it would be equally at home in a walled garden, on a covered terrace, or as a characterful dining table in a kitchen or conservatory. Pair it with simple rush-seated chairs and it is ready, once again, for whatever the day brings.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
